In-Town Welcome Letter

Dear AYS Recreational League Players, Families, and Coaches:

Welcome to the Spring 2016 In-Town Season

I want to start with a great big thank you to all the coaches, assistant coaches, age group coordinators and other volunteers, without whom The Attleboro Youth Soccer program would not run.

By the end of March you will be contacted by the coaches with team information.  If you have not been contacted, please contact me at ays_intowndirector@attleborosoccer.com

New England Revolution Player!!!

Does your child want to feel what it's like to play soccer in a Major League Soccer stadium where the pro's play?  Or do you want to watch your child play from the comfort of a stadium seat?  Well AYS is offering you both that exact opportunity with the return of the "Games on the Field" experience at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro. AYS participated in the program multiple times in the spring which was a huge success.  AYS has opened this to the U-7 and older age groups for the in-town program.  AYS teams will compete agains other teams in their age range either from Mansfield or fellow AYS teams.

The game will be Saturday May 14th at 2pm, when the Revolution faces the Chicago Fire.  Tickets are $26 a piece and will get you admission to the stadium for the AYS games, the parking lot assigned to AYS for tailgaiting, and seats in the AYS section during the Revolution game.  Everyone attending, including players, coaches, and fans, will need a ticket.  I would love to seewhole in-town teams competing, but we will also be matching up players from across teams in the same age group so every child who wants to can compete.  Additional information on this exciting event will be coming soon.  If you have any questions about this exciting activity please email ays_vicepresident@attleborosoccer.com.

Explosion!!!

I am excited to announce that AYS has continued it's partnership with the Explosion FC soccer club to provide skills training to our U7 and U8 teams.  These practices will be held in academy style with all kids and coaches participating at the same time.  The Explosion coaches will work with the AYS coaches and the kids to teach the kids proper techniques on the ball.  Explosion is the premier soccer program of South Eastern Massachusetts located right here in Attleboro.

Season Schedule

Our season is scheduled to begin on April 10th and run through June 12th with June 19th reserved for a makeup day.   No Games will be held on Monther's Day and Memorial Day weekends.

U6, U7 and U8 practices will begin the week of the 1st game of the season, so the week of April 10th. All other age groups please check with your coaches to find out if practice is starting before or after the first week of the season. All games and practices will be at the Tilda B. Parking:

As many of you will remember parking is an issue at Tilda B Stone so please remember the following tips:

  • We ask that all families arrive in 1 car, or if feasible to car pool with your neighbors;

  • Please do not park on route 152, the police will ticket you;

  • Please do not park on any of the grass areas, there are sprinkler lines that run under there and can be easily damaged. Please do not part in front of the neighbors driveways, including the one near the gate to the upper fields.

  • If your game is on the upper fields please park in the tennis courts and near the pool area;

  • If your game is on the lower fields please park in the lower lot and on the hill;

  • Within the tennis court please DO NOT PARK in the blue hashed area in the middle, this is the driveway in and out of the area.  Please form 4 rows of parking facing out of the lot.  There should be 1 row of cars at the opening, an aisle, 2 rows of cars centered on the painted line, an aisle and then a row of cars along the fence closest to the field. Please leave space in front of the portable toilet and the storage container;

  • Make full use of the hill, I will be marking off an aisle with traffic cones down the gravel part of the hill to allow easier access;

  • We will make sure all games start on time so they end on time;

  • The staggered start times between upper and lower fields seem to alleviate traffic and parking issues so that practice is continuing. If you are available to assist with parking please let me know.

***Please remember: No Dogs (no matter how small) are allowed on the fields during practices or games.  Dogs must remain along the outer edges of the fields near the fences and parking lots. ***

NO TOBACCO USE: Attleboro Recreation Commission has adopted a No Tobacco use policy for all parks and recreational facilities in the city of Attleboro.  So smoking, or the use of chew, is strictly forbidden at the Tilda B Stone complex.

Zero Tolerance Policy

Parents and Coaches, please remember that the Referees officiating your son or daughters game are young players, who themselves are still learning the game, and will make mistakes.  We ask that you DO NOT make any disparaging remarks towards the referees.  If any of our referees feel they are being harassed or taunted, they will stop the game and action will be taken by the AYS In-Town Director to remove anyone who violates the ZERO Tolerance Policy.  For full disclosure of the AYS policies that you agreed to when registering your child, please refer to the AYS website, at www.attleborosoccer.com.

AYS Volunteers:

Please remember AYS is a parent volunteer run organization.  We are always looking for volunteers for coaches, assistant coaches, age group coordinators to help direct people before each game, manning the apparel tables; field and equipment coordinators to help maintain equipment and paint lines on the fields each week. If you did not register as a volunteer when you registered your child please contact me. Also please remember to treat all of our volunteers with respect they are doing their best to help your children.

Play Safe, Play Fair, and Have Fun!

Regards

Joe

AYS-In-Town Director
