Friday, September 11th, 2009

Attleboro, Mass. – (September 8, 2009) – For the 10th year in a row, the Uniroyal® Soccer Program is supporting soccer communities across the country. New England Tire and Sullivan Tire will donate funds and equipment to Attleboro Youth Soccer. Beginning September 11, players will receive a certificate that can be redeemed for a free soccer ball at New England Tire and Sullivan Tire while supplies last. Uniroyal Tire and New England Tire and Sullivan Tire will also donate $2 for every Uniroyal tire sold during the 30-day program.

Founded in 2000, the Uniroyal Soccer Program has provided almost $12 million in funds and equipment, including nearly one million soccer balls, to more than 3,000 youth soccer programs in America and Canada. In celebration of the program’s 10th anniversary, Uniroyal Tire is giving away a soccer ball every day in 2009 via their website, www.UniroyalTires.com/sweeps. The daily winners will be eligible for the grand prize drawing at the end of the year which includes the top 10 items a family needs for the 2010 soccer season: a $500 gas card, a set of Uniroyal tires, a camera/video recorder, car service for the season, a GPS system, car detailing, a cooler/chair package, a $250 parents’ night out gift card, a $250 snack/food gift card, and a $500 sporting goods gift card.

“We are proud to support Attleboro Youth Soccer, which gives local youth the experience of being a part of a team and helps them learn valuable skills they can use on and off the field,” said managers of New England Tire and Sullivan Tire. “I can’t wait to see the happy faces when the children get their free soccer balls.”

“The 10th anniversary of the soccer program is quite a milestone,” said Jill Weninger Goulette, Uniroyal Tire brand director. “Our unique program has grown rapidly and we continue to partner with exceptional dealers like New England Tire and Sullivan Tire to reach additional soccer leagues each year. Bringing communities together has always been an important component of the soccer program, and we look forward to being involved in youth soccer for years to come.”

Spring 2009 Instructional Season

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Message

Date: April 6, 2009
Subject: AYS Families

To AYS Players and Parents:

I am writing to you today to explain our Spring Instructional Season. The AYS Recreational League utilizes a Dual Field format for U5 U7 games. Two fields are used simultaneously and children can be placed on either field throughout the course of the game. It allows for longer playing time per child and more contact with the ball. Small sided games let us focus on two major areas:

1.
Ball Skills (heavy emphasis on getting touches of the soccer ball for
everyone.)

2. Passing (more so for U7 as with
the U5 and U6 there is a strong desire for keeping the ball themselves)

For our U8 Program we went back to the 6v6 format for
several reasons:

Consistency with the Fall Program

Develop Tactical Skills (field awareness, decision making, positioning)

Develop Physical Skills (speed, strength, endurance, agility)

Both formats of play require multiple volunteers per team to
run efficiently and effectively.

As you look to the AdminSports Website at your family
account you will see your childs team roster for the upcoming season. It lists the Coach and Assistant Coach
or Coaches names as well as their
teammates. We are restricted to that
format because of the programs design. Your child will have a Coaching
Team
. These are the men and women
who have volunteered their time and participated in trainings and taken courses
to learn how to instruct the players on the basic skills required to play the
beautiful game.

Every volunteer on each team will have the title of Coach. Your Coaching
Team
will decide among themselves who will be the contact person for the
group prior to the start of the season. This will be the person who will be passing on information about your
team and any changes that come up.

We expect all of our players and parents to show each of the
volunteers the respect they deserve by addressing them as Coach and the players
are expected to follow the directions of every coach assigned to their team.

We are looking forward to seeing you all on the field!

ATTLEBORO YOUTH SOCCER 2009 IN-TOWN RECREATION SPONSOR PROGRAM

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

March 2009

Dear Potential Sponsor,

Over 1,000 children played soccer last year. These children will have life-long benefits from the teamwork, sportsmanship and skills learned thru AYS. Our children need sports programs and we need your help in continuing our programs. Plus, it is great local advertising for your company.

Your continuing support ensures that every child who wants to play soccer in Attleboro will have that opportunity. Coach’s Clinics, equipment purchases, low registration fees are just a few of the results of your donation. Please help us help today’s youth.

For a donation of $150.00, your company name will be printed on the back of every game shirt of your team and listed on our AYS web page. If you have a web page, please provide us with your URL and we will add a link from our website (http://attleborosoccer.com) to your website.

You will also receive a sponsor plaque with your team’s photograph for display at your place of business. This donation is for the 2009 Fall Season.

AYS/ Happennigs Update

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

Date: March 29, 2009

Subject: AYS/ Happennigs Update

Dear AYS Parents, Coaches, and Assistants,

As the Spring season rapidly approaches I just wanted inform you of a presentation titled “Adults and Children in Youth Sports: Who Wins, Who Loses?” by Bob Bigelow a former NBA first round player and author of Just Let Kids Play. This presentation is sponsored by the City’s Recreation Center and St. John’s School.

It will be held on Wednesday April 8th from 7-9 PM at Thacher School Auditorium.

I heard him speak before and he gives a good perspective of what we adults can do and not do to make youth sports fun for our children. Eye opening at times!

Have a great season!
